CD-ROM features:
The readingspeed of the drive specified as 24-fold. Therefore the
drive lies in the upper speedregion. What the drive really can, we will see it
now in our test.
Speed
The speed is measures by the benchmark Maxa CD Bench Pro, which we use at all
reading analysis of CD-drives. It values the access time and the average
readingspeed. It forgives with respect to the access time a value ROMarks, which
is in combination with the average Reading rate a measure for the speed of the
drive.

In comparison of the reached values you can notice, that the drive reads
independent of the CD-type constantly with 9x speed. Only the access time is
changing at green CD-Rs. Here is a increment and so a 0.8 points smaller
benchmarkvalue. The increment is in comparison with other drives really small.
In this test a really positive result.
Error Correcting
To get a value for the error correcting, we checked the drive with a
scratched CD. Here is the result:

As you can see, the drive has no problems with the scratched CD. The access
times are a little bit higher than normal, but there is no difference to the
other values otherwise. In this sector an extraordinary good result.
Copy of a CD
In this testpart we copied a CD with 600MB of data to the HDD and stopped the
needed time. The drive needs 5:59 min, which is a transfer rate of 1700 KB/s
(11,3x speed). In comparison with other drives the CED 8042B reaches here the
upper region, too.
Audio-Grabbing
At the audio grabbing test the drive delivers nearly the same values as the
Mitsumi CR-4804TE
Burner. The speeds are summarized here

CD-ROM Upshots

The drive bribes in the CD-ROM testsector with low access times and constant
transfer rates (independent of the CD-type). It copunts in this sector to the
TOP-drives for sure.
